MARTIN, Tenn. – Currently the hottest team in the Ohio Valley Conference, the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad battles defending league tournament champion SIUE tomorrow at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. Tipoff for the backend of the doubleheader with the women's team is set for 7:30 p.m.
The Skyhawks (13-4) have won their last five decisions against the Cougars and are the lone OVC team remaining with an undefeated home record (7-0) in 2025-26. UT Martin has amassed 13 victories at the fastest rate in the Skyhawks' NCAA Division I Era (since 1992), becoming the quickest UT Martin team to achieve that mark since the 1987-88 squad reached 13 wins in its 16th contest.
A pair of road triumphs last week catapulted the Skyhawks into first place in the league standings as UT Martin has started its OVC slate with a 5-1 mark for the first time in school history. Andrija Bukumirović topped the Skyhawks in scoring in both games last week (18 points at Morehead State, 19 points at Southern Indiana) while Filip Radaković capped off strong back-to-back performances with career-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds at Southern Indiana.
UT Martin features a swarming defensive unit that ranks amongst the best nationally in three-point field goal percentage defense (.285, 14th), scoring defense (65.0 points per game, 18th) and field goal percentage defense (.388, 18th).
The Cougars (10-7, 3-3 OVC) received some tough news last week when reigning All-OVC Tournament honorees Ring Malith (second in the OVC with 17.0 points per contest) and Myles Thompson (team-best 6.1 rebounds per outing) were diagnosed with season-ending injuries. Jack Campion (OVC-highs of 4.76 assists per game and 2.45 assist-to-turnover ratio), Arnas Sakenis (OVC-best 2.0 blocks per contest) and Jordan Pickett (10.0 points per outing on 8-of-10 shooting against UT Martin last season) will look to lead SIUE, as all six of the Cougars' OVC matchups have been decided by five points or less.
