Skyhawks Set Several PRs At The Southern Showcase

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- Surrounded by the nation's best, the University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team battled its way to a competitive performance at the Southern Showcase.
The men's team finished in 15th with three student-athletes placing inside the top-100 (field of 449) while the women's team notched four personal bests on the day with a 30th place finish.
In the 8K, the UT Martin men were led by Angus Monro who crossed the finish line at 24:37.97 which earned him 42nd. Keagan Enicks (68th) clocked a time of 24:52.90 while newcomer Will Douglas captured 100th from a time of 25:08.19. Luke Johnson finished at 25:15.68 with David Stukey (25:42.95) and Ethan Brinkley (26:37.41) finding their way into the scoring five for the first time this season.
In the 5k, the Skyhawk women were led by senior Maggie Roy who established a new PR of 18:36.17. Danielle Mudd finished right behind Roy at a mark of 18:39.74. Reese Settle (18:44.82), Charlotte Cones (19:28.77) and Sophia Cahill (20:03.18) all set new PRs during the second meet of the season for UT Martin.
Next, the Skyhawks will gear up for the Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 26 in Columbia, Mo.
