Skyhawks Battle At Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team went toe-to-toe with the country's most talented teams at the Gans Creek Classic. The men's team finished in 13^th place while the women's team claimed 24^th place.

The Skyhawks faced the likes of UCLA, Ohio State, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Texas Tech and Baylor.

The men's team was led Angus Monro for the second meet in a row as the junior took 58^th place (field of 253) from a time of 24:29.2 (personal best). Luke Johnson (74^th, 24:36.6) and Keagan Enicks (88^th, 24:44.7) fought their way to top-100 finishes in the meet. Will Douglas (24:57.1) and David Stukey (25:32.7) each earned a PR in the 8k race.

Senior Maggie Roy paced the women's team in the 6k with a time of 22:21.8, while Danielle Mudd crossed the finish line at 22:53.6. Three freshmen earned a spot in the scoring five and set new PRs with Charlotte Cones (23:55.5), Sophia Cahill (24:05.4) and Zoe Jones (24:40.5) putting forth strong performances.

Now, UT Martin will prepare for its final meet of the regular season at the Angel Mounds Invitational on October 17^th in Evansville, Ind.
