CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.- The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team opened the season in a big way with a win in the Redhawks Invitational and individual first place finish on the men's side while achieving multiple personal bests including a top-10 individual placing from the women's team.

Luke Johnson returned from injury by setting the field ablaze with his first career first-place finish on a time of 15:09.7 (5k). Reigning Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year Keagan Enicks crossed the finish line in fourth from a time of 15:20.0 while newcomer Will Douglas notched fifth on a 15:20.4 finish. Angus Monro captured sixth by recording a time of 15:23.4 and Ridge Bruce set a new PR of 15.39.1 which brought him 14^th place.

Danielle Mudd began her sophomore year by finishing eighth in the 5k (18:14.6) and Reese Settle notched a new PR of 18:48.3. Maggie Roy crossed the finish line at 19:27.3 while Charlotte Cones (19:36.49) and Zoe Jones (20:10.51) achieved PRs in their first collegiate races.

The Skyhawks will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 12 at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala.
