Phil Steele Tabs JaMichael McGoy To All-American Squad; Five Skyhawks Earn All-Conference Honors

MARTIN, Tenn. – One of the final preseason publications has been released as Phil Steele announced its Preseason FCS All-Americans and all-conference performers leading up to the 2025 season. Highlighting the list is senior defensive back JaMichael McGoy, Jr. earning his third All-American honor while five individuals from the University of Tennessee at Martin football program garnered all-conference honors.
A consensus preseason All-American, McGoy was one of four members of the OVC-Big South Football Association bestowed with preseason honors by the publication. He joins McCoy Casey from Southeast Missouri, Tim Coutras from Tennessee Tech and Cooper William from Eastern Illinois with FCS All-American selections.
The OVC-Big South 2025 Preseason All-Conference Teams consisted of four groupings with UT Martin claiming two first team honors, two second team selections and one third team pick.
With the 2025 season right around the corner, the University of Tennessee at Martin football program had five standout performers named to the Preseason OVC-Big South Football Association all-conference team by Phil Steele.
Earning a spot on the first team was offensive lineman Josiah Tingley and defensive back JaMichael McGoy, Jr. Garnering second team recognitions was the defensive duo of linebacker Tah Mac Bright Banda and safety Josh Hastings. The third team was rounded out by running back Armoni Goodwin.
UT Martin opens the season on Thursday, Aug. 28 when traveling to Big 12 foe Oklahoma State. Fans can purchase their season tickets for a loaded five-game home slate at www.utmsports.com/tickets.
