MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Athletics is inviting members of the historic 2006 Ohio Valley Conference football championship team back to campus on Saturday, Nov. 14, for a special 20-year reunion celebrating one of the most significant accomplishments in Skyhawk football history.
The reunion will honor the players, coaches and staff who helped deliver the program's first OVC championship and first conference title since transitioning to the NCAA Division I level. The landmark 2006 season helped establish a new standard of excellence for UT Martin football and laid the foundation for the program's continued success over the following two decades.
Under the direction of head coach Jason Simpson, who was in his first season at the helm of the Skyhawk program, UT Martin captured the 2006 OVC championship and earned the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The championship represented a defining moment in program history and began a new era of Skyhawk football.
Now, 20 years later, UT Martin Athletics is excited to welcome members of that historic squad back to Martin to reconnect with former teammates, reminisce about their championship season and be recognized for their lasting contributions to the program.
As part of the celebration, all members of the 2006 OVC championship team will receive complimentary admission to the Nov. 14 football game, along with one guest. Returning team members will also be recognized as part of the day's halftime festivities.
Members of the 2006 championship team are asked to RSVP in advance to assist with planning, complimentary admission and reunion activities. RSVP at the link above by Thursday, Nov. 12 by 5 p.m.
