UT Martin And Twerdahl Both In Second Place Through 36 Holes At TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – All 10 University of Tennessee at Martin golfers are in action at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate as the Skyhawks are flying high through two rounds at the Hermitage Golf Course.
As a team, UT Martin ranks second in the standings with a 567 (-1), which trails Arkansas-Pine Bluff by three strokes. The Skyhawks shot a 288 (+4) this morning and followed that with an afternoon round of 279 (-5) – the lowest number of any team in any round so far in the 14-team tournament.
On an individual front, three separate UT Martin representatives carded career-best scores today. Jackson Twerdahl's 139 (-3) ranks second in the 92-man field as his score is one stroke behind Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Jose Berenguel in the medalist hunt.
All in all, four separate Skyhawks are in the top-eight and six different UT Martin golfers are in the top-20 through 36 holes. Luke Caldwell's 140 (-2) ranks fourth in the field while Grant Phillips (141, -1) and Jonathan Xoinis (142, E) are sixth and eighth in the standings, respectively. Ethan Ray's 145 (+3) ranks 16th while John-Gregory Wilson's 146 (+4) is 20th in the field.
Caldwell guided the Skyhawks in Round 1, posting a career-best 67 (-4) that included four birdies. Twerdahl managed an even-par 71 (three birdies) and was followed by Xoinis (74, three birdies), Garrett Chumley (76) and Drew Williams (78) in the scoring lineup.
Five UT Martin golfers are competing as individuals in this event as that group was headed by Phillips (one birdie) and Wilson (two birdies) with matching 72's in Round 1. Ray followed closely behind with a 73 (two birdies) while Jaden Morrell (77, one birdie) and Luke Beadles (82) completed the individuals.
In Round 2, Twerdahl (six birdies) and Xoinis (four birdies) were both responsible for career-best tallies of 68. Williams shaved eight strokes off his morning tally with a 70 (-1, three birdies) while Chumley (three birdies) and Caldwell (one birdie) concluded the team scoring with identical 73's.
Phillips' 69 (-2) with three birdies on the scorecard paved the way for the Skyhawk individuals in the second round. Ray sank two birdies on the way to a 72 while Beadles (one birdie) whittled nine strokes off his Round 1 tally for a 73. Wilson (74) and Morrell (79) each generated one birdie apiece during Round 2.
Overall, Williams accounts for a 148 (+6) and is followed by Chumley (149, +7), Beadles (155, +13) and Morrell (156, +14).
