
Skyhawk Newcomer TJ Grines Named OVC Player To Watch

MARTIN, Tenn.- The 2025 University of Tennessee at Martin baseball season is less than a month away and the Ohio Valley Conference has named Skyhawk junior TJ Grines as a Player To Watch for the upcoming campaign.

Grines transfers to UT Martin from Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, where he took the Alabama CC Conference by storm. The Alexandria, La. native batted .381 with a .485 on-base percentage and slugged .500. He cracked nine doubles, four triples and one home run while driving in 40 runs with 27 walks and 48 stolen bases (only caught stealing three times).

In conference play, Grines landed a .423 batting average with a .520 on-base percentage and .529 slugging percentage. The 5-10, 185-pound utilityman drove in 22 runs and struck out only seven times in 126 plate appearances. He finished the year being named to the Alabama CC Conference first team and was a state champion during his time at Tioga High School.

The rising junior is one of 20 newcomers on the 2025 Skyhawk roster. UT Martin begins the season on Friday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. at Florida A&M.
