Tong Earns OVC Freshman of the Week Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Yar Tong of the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team was named as the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Tong led UT Martin in the win over Champion Christian last week with 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting, including going 2-for-2 from 3-point range. The redshirt freshman finished the game with six rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist.
On the season, she is averaging 4.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.7 steals and a team-high 0.7 blocks per game.
The Skyhawks open OVC play Thursday when they travel to Nashville to take on Tennessee State at 5 p.m.
