MARTIN, Tenn. – For the first time in program history, the University of Tennessee at Martin will have four participants in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Fall Collegiate Beach Volleyball National Championships event, which will once again be held in Huntsville, Ala. on Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9.
The Skyhawk duos of Riley Rushing/Reagan McGee and Lauren Mariscal/MC Rehm will be part of the 64-pair field at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Courts. UT Martin is one of just 22 schools to have multiple teams in the tournament, joining Arizona State, Boise State, Cal Poly, California, Florida State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, LSU, North Florida, South Carolina, Stanford, Stetson, Tampa, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tulane, UCLA, USC and Washington. Other participating universities include one pair from Arizona, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia State, Hawaii, Houston Christian, Jacksonville, North Alabama, Palm Beach Atlantic, Pepperdine, Santa Clara, South Florida, Southern Miss, UAB, UC Davis and UNC Wilmington.
The Skyhawks automatically received one bid into this year's championship event by finishing in the top-two of the Ohio Valley Conference standings in 2025. Rushing and McGee earned a bid with an unbeaten performance in the AVCA Central Qualifier and Midwest Open on Oct. 17 in Ozark, Mo.
This will be Rushing's second straight appearance in the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Volleyball National Championships tournament while McGee, Mariscal and Rehm are slated to make their debuts in the prestigious event. Those four join Olivia O'Keefe (three times from 2022-24), Lucy Kaufman (2023) and Brooke Kuball (2022) as UT Martin's all-time representatives in the four-year history of the event.
A senior from Snowmass Village, Colo., Rushing tallied 16 victories in her debut season as a Skyhawk last spring as she was slotted at either No. 1 or No. 2 in UT Martin's lineup during all 34 matches. McGee has secured All-OVC accolades in each of her first two collegiate seasons as the Norfolk, Va. native has produced a 45-20 record in that span.
Mariscal is the reigning OVC Freshman of the Year as the Naperville, Ill. product went 14-3 (mostly at No. 3) a year ago. Hailing from Gulf Breeze, Fla., Rehm is in her second year with the Skyhawk beach volleyball program as the redshirt sophomore transferred to UT Martin from Louisiana-Monroe.
