Thompson Named OVC Newcomer of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Zy Thompson of the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team was named as the OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Thompson scored 19 points in the Skyhawks' win over Fisk Sunday, going a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor. The Zebulon, Georgia native also added three rebounds, three assists and a block to her stat line against the Bulldogs.
On the season, Thompson is averaging 10.3 points on 66.7-percent shooting to go along with 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
On Thursday, UT Martin travels to New Mexico to take on the Lobos in Albuquerque at 8 p.m. CT/7 p.m. MT.
