Late SEMO Penalty Kick Completes Rally Over Skyhawks

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – A penalty kick in the 89^th minute helped Southeast Missouri complete a rally and top the University of Tennessee at Martin Soccer team, 2-1, at Houck Field in Cape Girardeau Sunday.

The Skyhawks were first on the board in the match when Unni Wolf set up Peyton Cook for her third goal of the season in the second minute of the game. The game remained scoreless until the 79^th minute when Emily Baker found the bottom left corner of the goal to equalize for the Redhawks, 1-1. In the 89^th minute, UT Martin conceded a penalty kick, which Baker took and converted into a goal, completing the rally and securing the 2-1 win for the Redhawks in the process.

Southeast Missouri outshot the Skyhawks in the match, 14-9, and placed more shots on goal in the match at 8-5. The Redhawks also had more corners Sunday by an 8-4 margin and committed fewer fouls with four, compared to 12 by UT Martin.

The Skyhawks return to the friendly confines of Skyhawk Soccer Field Thursday, when they host Little Rock at 7 p.m.
