
Skyhawks Geared Up For 2025 OVC Cross Country Championships

MARTIN, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country teams are primed and ready for this year's Ohio Valley Conference Championships which will be held in Charleston, Ill. on the campus of Eastern Illinois.

It marks the first time that EIU has hosted the event since 2017.Â
The meet is free and open to the public.

The men's 8k will begin at 9 a.m. while the women's 6k is set for 10 a.m. Last year in Martin, Tenn., the Skyhawk men finished in third while the women captured eighth place.

On the men's side, UT Martin has been led in the past three meets by Junior Angus Monro (2024 All-OVC Second Team) who owns a personal best of 24:29.2 in the 8k. Redshirt Junior Luke Johnson (2022 OVC Freshman of the Year) started the season with a first place finish in the Redhawks Invitational and touts a PR of 24:17.4 while Keagan Enicks (2024 OVC Freshman of the Year) owns a top time of 24:38.8. The Skyhawks' OVC Preseason Runner to Watch Will Douglas has put together a quality year which includes a PR (24:57.1) at the Gans Creek Classic back on Sept. 26. Additionally, redshirt Sophomore David Stukey just put forth his best performance of the year on a 25:31.0 run during the Angel Mounds Invitational on Oct. 17.

The women's team is led by seniors Maggie Roy and Gabby Brown. Roy (PR in the 6k: 22:09.2) has paced the Skyhawks in three races this season with a personal best time during the 5k (18:36.2) coming at the Southern Showcase. Brown capped off the regular season with an appearance in the scoring five while notching a time of 23:51.4 in the 6k. Sophomore Danielle Mudd has made the scoring five in every meet this year while earning a PR at the Angel Mounds Invitational (22:30.8, 6k) and the Redhawks Invitational (18:14.6, 5k, 8th). Fellow Sophomore Reese Settle posted a time of 18:44.9 (PR) in 5k at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 12 and finished in 17th in last year's OVC Championships. Freshman Charlotte Cones has been a steady contributor for UT Martin; she's finished inside the scoring five in every meet this season while running a PR in the 6k (23:45.3) at the most recent meet.

This will be the 65th OVC men's championship, as the first one was held in 1962; the women's championship will be determined for the 47th time this year.

The OVC Athletes and Freshmen of the Year, which are determined by coaches vote, will be announced on Thursday. The Coach of the Year, Athletes of the Championship and All-OVC honors will be presented following Friday's Championship.
