MARTIN, Tenn. – The first Ohio Valley Conference homestand of the season for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team wraps up with a matchup against league-leading Southeast Missouri tomorrow. The game serves as the backend of a doubleheader with the women's basketball squad and will tip off at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks have won four straight outings against the Redhawks and have emerged victorious in six consecutive decisions against Southeast Missouri inside the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center dating back to 2019. Overall, UT Martin is 30-14 in home matchups against the Redhawks.
The Skyhawks (5-9) will look for a split on the week as UT Martin gave a gutsy effort but narrowly fell 57-56 to preseason OVC favorite Little Rock on Thursday. The Skyhawks led for 36:52 of clock time and held a 54-47 advantage with 1:50 remaining before the visiting Trojans ended the contest on a 10-2 run.
Josué Grullon continued a torrid start to his UT Martin career as he amassed a game-high 20 points. The Skyhawks locked in defensively to hold their eighth different opponent to under 40 percent from the field in 2024-25, also forcing Little Rock into 17 turnovers and 25 percent shooting (6-of-24) from three-point land.
Despite its 1-2 record in the early going of the OVC schedule, UT Martin tops the league in scoring margin (+9.7) and three-point field goals made (11.0 per contest) in conference play.
Southeast Missouri (8-6) enters the contest on a five-game winning streak and is 3-0 to begin OVC play for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, already just one victory away from tying last season's win total. The Redhawks displayed incredibly balanced scoring in Thursday's 67-65 road triumph at Tennessee State as seven players tallied between seven and 11 points. Teddy Washington, Jr. paved the way with 11 points and a whopping seven steals for Southeast Missouri, who ranks first in the OVC in opponent three-point field goal percentage (.259).
