MARTIN, Tenn. – The 2024 version of the Grover Page Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Martin golf program is all set for Monday, Sept. 16 through Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Jackson Country Club.
This year's event is the 21st installment of the tournament and is the 15th consecutive year that the event has been held at the Jackson Country Club, a par-72 course playing at 6,849 yards.
A total of 15 teams and 99 players will make up the 2024 Grover Page Classic as Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Missouri State, Morehead State, Murray State, New Orleans, Presbyterian, SIUE, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and West Georgia join the Skyhawks in the tournament field.
The five schools located in Tennessee (Austin Peay, Belmont, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin) are additionally teaming up to raise donations for the Folds of Honor Tennessee Birdie Challenge initiative. Fans can pledge a monetary amount to help fund a scholarship for a family member of a fallen or disabled military/first responder by accessing this link.
Following a practice round on Sunday, Sept. 15, the Grover Page Classic starts with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Round 2 will take place that afternoon before the third and final round tees off at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
Monday's forecast calls for a 47 percent chance of rain showers, a high of 80 degrees, low of 63 degrees and 8 mph east winds. Tuesday's projected conditions include mostly sunny skies, a high of 84 degrees, low of 61 degrees and 7 mph northeast winds.
The Skyhawks have won the Grover Page Classic twice since the tournament was moved to the fall semester in 2021. That includes last season when UT Martin carded an 841 (-23) for a record-setting wire-to-wire victory that included the best cumulative score in the history of the event.
Jonathan Xoinis (208, -8) finished third in the 93-man field last season, marking the best score by any Skyhawk golfer in Grover Page Classic history and his fifth career top-five finish in the event (also carding a 211, -5 in 2021). Dax Isbell also placed ninth with a 210 (-6) in the 2023 tournament.
All 12 UT Martin golfers will take part in this year's event. At the season-opening SIUE Dolenc Invitational last week, Xoinis and Cole Isbell tied for the best score of any Skyhawk with a 214 (+1) while Luke Caldwell rolled in a team-high 12 birdies.
