MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball program has added its third student-athlete for next season as high-scoring guard Ty Price out of Morgantown, Ky. has signed with the Skyhawks.
Price is entering his senior season at Butler County High School as he has scored 2,469 points with 371 three-pointers made in his first three seasons alone at the high school level. The 6-0, 160-pound product is ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN.com as that service ranks him as the fifth-best player in the commonwealth of Kentucky and 39th best point guard in the nation.
"I am so fired up to coach Ty," UT Martin head coach Jeremy Shulman said. "What an amazing young man and an outstanding player as well. He has a ton of ability, fits perfectly in our system and his work ethic in particular is absolutely extraordinary."
Playing under head coach Calvin Dockery at BCHS, Price helped the Bears to their first-ever regional championship with a 23-9 record last season, averaging 29.0 points per game (929 points over 32 games). He stepped up his game underneath the bright lights, averaging 36 points, six rebounds and five assists per game during the Region 3 Tournament to clinch a KHSAA Sweet 16 berth.
Price was voted Region 3 Player of the Year in 2023-24 as his 143 three-point field goals made ranked third in Kentucky high school history for most in a single season. He tied former Kentucky star Patrick Sparks for the Region 3 single-game record for three-pointers when he drilled 12 triples against McLean County. He shot 38.1 percent from three-point range while sinking 84 percent (158-for-188) of his free throw tries. That came after he poured in 1,000 points during his sophomore season alone, tossing in 31.2 points per outing.
Price attended South Warren High School as a freshman, scoring 17.2 points per game.
On the prestigious Nike EYBL circuit, Price has starred on the Bradley Beal Elite Squad.
Price joins Ama Sow (Dakar, Senegal/Montour HS) and James Bass (Dakar, Senegal/Campbell HS) in the Skyhawks' 2025-26 signing class.
