
Skyhawks Go Wire-To-Wire For Win Over Missouri State

MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team led for over 38 minutes of Tuesday's game and never trailed, as it picked up its first win of the season with a 74-64 victory over Missouri State at the Kathleen & Tom Elam Center.
In front of over 4,000 local school children for Education Day, the Skyhawks jumped out a 5-0 lead and never looked back. UT Martin would go on to lead by as many as 11 in the contest and held the lead for a total of 38 minutes and 32 seconds.
Coming into the game shooting just 67.5-percent from the free throw line, the Skyhawks put on a clinic Tuesday by making 18 of 24 attempts for an 83.3-percent clip. UT Martin was also efficient from the field in the game, making 24 of 55 shots for 43.6-percent.
Anaya Brown led three Skyhawks in double-digits in the game by tying her career-high with 25 points and notching the 11th double-double of her career, by also pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds. Brown was 8-for-19 from the floor in the game and 8-for-9 at the free throw line, to go along with two blocks.
Shae Littleford was next in line for UT Martin with 15 points, including a six-for-six performance at the free throw line, while Kenley McCarn followed with 14. Lexi Rubel was also successful on the glass Tuesday with seven boards.
The Skyhawks will now have nine days before returning to action in the Aloha State Nov. 29-Dec. 1 as part of the American Saving Bank Rainbow Wahine Showdow at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Ceneter in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. While in the "Paradise of the Pacific", the Skyhawks will take on No. 5 UCLA Friday, host Hawaiʻi Saturday and Fresno State Sunday.
