MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin will take part in the third annual American Volleyball Coaches Association Fall Collegiate National Beach Volleyball Championships held on Nov. 15-17 in Huntsville, Ala. as Olivia O'Keefe and Riley Rushing earned an at-large bid into the tournament.
O'Keefe and Rushing were one of just two wild card selections into the event, which will again take place at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex. The Skyhawks join pairs from 38 separate schools in the 2024 field, including fellow Ohio Valley Conference squads Chattanooga and Lindenwood.
UT Martin's pair of O'Keefe/Rushing will be in Pool 3 alongside Long Beach State (Malia Gementera/Taylor Hagenah), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Madison Morrow/Tess Spaansen) and Pepperdine (Emma Eden/Mckenna Thomas). The Skyhawks will open play at 11 a.m. on Friday against Long Beach State as the rest of the tournament schedule will be determined off those results.
This weekend caps off the fall schedule for UT Martin beach volleyball as O'Keefe and Rushing have previously competed together in a pair of AVCA Qualifiers (Oct. 11-13 in Cartersville, Ga. and Nov. 1-3 in Huntsville, Ala.) as well as events hosted by UAB (Oct. 25-26) and North Alabama (Nov. 9-10).
This will be O'Keefe's third consecutive year representing the Skyhawks in this event as she previously teamed up with Brooke Kuball (2022) and Lucy Kaufman (2023). O'Keefe has claimed All-OVC accolades in each of her first two seasons in a UT Martin uniform as the graduate out of Scottsdale, Ariz. has racked up 36 victories with a 16-4 mark against OVC competition.
A junior out of Snowmass Village, Colo., Rushing signed with the Skyhawks during the offseason after two highly productive seasons at Tusculum University, a NCAA Division II program located in Greeneville, Tenn. She combined for 34 victories – 25 of which came last spring – including eight against NCAA Division I institutions.
