Jaren Van Winkle Named Big South-OVC Specialist of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin football standout Jaren Van Winkle was rewarded for his strong performance at Charleston Southern by being named Big South-OVC Football Association Specialist of the Week.
The do-it-all specialist from Clay, Ala. manned all three units in Saturday's win as the team's primary place kicker, punter and kickoff performer. Van Winkle scored the team's first points by booting a 44-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter before later adding a 24-yard attempt early in the second quarter. In addition to his field goals, he also converted on four point after attempts, to score 10 total points.
Van Winkle also punted it three times for an average of 38.3 yards per attempt. He booted a game-long 45-yard punt while pinning two of his attempts inside the opponent's 20-yard line. In the kickoff game, he tallied 48.9 yards per attempt.
The Skyhawks return to action this weekend when playing host to Big South-OVC rival Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Nov. 16. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
