
SKYHAWK MEN'S HOOPS LOOKS TO CONTINUE RECENT HOME SUCCESS IN SERIES AGAINST OVC RIVAL SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball squad goes for its sixth straight home victory over Southeast Missouri when the defending Ohio Valley Conference tournament champion Redhawks visit the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center tomorrow. Tipoff time is set for 7:30 p.m. (following the women's basketball contest as part of a doubleheader).
The Skyhawks are 29-14 all-time against Southeast Missouri inside the Elam Center and have not lost a home decision to the Redhawks since an 81-77 overtime setback on Feb. 10, 2018.
Overall, UT Martin has won six of the last seven outings against Southeast Missouri, including a season sweep in 2022-23 - accomplishing that feat for only the sixth time since joining the OVC in 1992. Last season, Jordan Sears averaged 15.0 points per game on 64.7 percent shooting (11-of-17) while Desmond Williams knocked down 45.5 percent (5-for-11) of his three-point attempts against the Redhawks. KK Curry (15 points, 13 rebounds) and Koby Jeffries (11 points in 18 minutes) additionally found success in the Skyhawks' home triumph over Southeast Missouri on Jan. 5, 2023.
UT Martin (10-9, 3-3 OVC) is coming off an 84-66 setback at OVC-leading Morehead State last Thursday. Sears (18 points) and Curry (16) joined forces for over half of the team's scoring while Williams (nine points on 3-for-3 shooting from three-point land) and Jacob Crews (eight points, team-best five rebounds) nearly scored in double figures.
The Redhawks (7-12, 2-4 OVC) put on a defensive clinic in their last outing, defeating SIUE by a 52-47 margin last Saturday. Southeast Missouri limited the visiting Cougars to 31.5 percent (17-of-54) shooting, including a 22.2 percent effort (4-for-18) from beyond the three-point arc. Josh Earley (16 points, game-high eight rebounds) and Rob Martin (10 points, game-high five assists) guided the Redhawks to the victory.
