The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will put a bow on the 2022-23 regular season with a road matchup at Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tipoff from Elliot T. Johnson Arena will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The Skyhawks (12-16, 8-9 OVC) enter the final matchup of the regular season looking to finish the year at .500 with a win over Morehead State. If UT Martin can get to a 9-9 record in league play, it will mark the 13th consecutive season that the program has finished OVC action with at least a .500 winning percentage.
UT Martin used a well-rounded effort to pull out a 75-59 victory over Tennessee State on Thursday night. The Skyhawks forced a season-high 29 turnovers while using a pair of big runs in the third quarter to lead by as much as 21 points in the matchup.
Individually, reigning OVC Player of the Week and eight-time OVC Freshman of the Week Sharnecce Currie-Jelks paced the team with 27 points while adding six rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the win over TSU. Shae Littleford returned to the squad after missing three games and responded by scoring 20 points – including going 13-for-14 from the free throw line. Graduate guard Paige Pipkin also added 17 points in the contest.
Morehead State (10-18, 6-11 OVC) enters the final game of the regular season fighting for a spot in next week's OVC Basketball Championship. Despite dropping five of their last six contests, the Eagles still sit one game up on Southern Indiana for the eighth seed.
The Eagles are led by four-time OVC Newcomer of the Week Veronica Charles who leads the team in several categories, including points (13.2 ppg), rebounds (5.6 rpg) and steals (3.1 spg). The squad also boasts Sandra Lin who ranks as one of the nation's top assist contributors by averaging 5.2 assists per game.

UT Martin holds a narrow 30-29 advantage in the series while possessing a seven-game winning streak against Morehead State.
