
UT MARTIN MEN'S HOOPS GOES FOR SWEEP OF OVC REGULAR SEASON CHAMPION MOREHEAD STATE IN TOMORROW'S REGULAR SEASON FINALE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The 2022-23 regular season concludes for the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team with a long bus trip to Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Morehead State. Tipoff on Saturday, Feb. 25 is set for 2 p.m. CST.
The Skyhawks (18-12, 10-7 OVC) enter the regular season finale in a four-way tie for second place in the league standings alongside Southeast Missouri, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. The Eagles (20-10, 13-4) claimed the top seed in next week's eight-team OVC Championship field after winning on Wednesday at Eastern Illinois, earning the program's first outright league title since 1984.
UT Martin will go for the season sweep over Morehead State as the Skyhawks soared to a 64-57 victory in Martin on Dec. 31, 2022. In that game, UT Martin held the Eagles to 30.8 percent shooting (16-of-52) while outscoring Morehead State by a 36-16 margin in the paint. The Skyhawks trailed by seven points with less than five minutes to go but ended the contest on an 18-4 run.
Jordan Sears (game-highs of 18 points and five assists), KK Curry (14 points, career-best 16 rebounds) and KJ Simon (12 points, two blocks, two steals) paced UT Martin against the Eagles earlier this season.
The Skyhawks are coming off a tough 88-82 home setback to Tennessee State on Thursday. Sears (20 points), Parker Stewart (16 points, team-highs of seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks), Simon (16 points) and Jalen Myers (11 points) helped guide UT Martin in the scoring column.
Kalil Thomas led all scorers with 20 points - including a 6-of-7 effort from three-point range - in Morehead State's 69-63 road win at Eastern Illinois. Mark Freeman, who scored a team-best 18 points against the Skyhawks on Dec. 31, dished out eight assists for an offensive attack that connected on a scorching 52 percent (13-of-25) of its attempts from beyond the three-point arc.
