
UT MARTIN IS SET FOR OVC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEK

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field program will put their preparations to the test at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships. The event will be hosted in Murray, Ky. over three days, beginning Wednesday, May 11 and concluding on Friday, May 13.
Each day will be streamed on ESPN+ while live results are available at the top of the page.
The championship schedule will feature several prelims on Wednesday evening including the 1500m, 400m hurdles and 200m races before wrapping up with the 10k final. Thursday afternoon will feature the long jump and 3k steeple finals along with prelims in the 110m hurdles, 400m, 100m and 800m.
Friday's loaded schedule wraps up the Outdoor Championship with event finals in the high jump, 4x100m, 1500m, 110m hurdles, 400m, 100m, triple jump, 800m, 400m hurdle, 200m, and 5k before concluding with the competitive 4x400m.
On the women's side, the Skyhawks are looking to JayleAna Wyatt and Janay Chapman to be contributors in both the 100m and 200m dashes while the freshman pair of Rita Eimer and Lydia Tankersley will run in the 800m. Another athlete to keep an eye on is Lilia Alvarez in the 3k steeple.
Highlighting the field events is the reining OVC Indoor Co-Freshman of the Year Darius Holland who will compete in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and on the 4x100m relay team. Holland holds school records in each of those events – including setting and tying a new long jump mark in back-to-back meets of 7.45m.
On the track side, the Skyhawk men will look to Brady Fry to garner another championship medal after finishing second in the men's 60m hurdles at the OVC Indoor Championship in March. John Collin Askew will join in the action in the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay. The trio of Holland, Fry and Askew will be joined in the 4x100m relay by JaMichael McGoy. In the distance events, Luke McNair will compete in both the 800m and 1500m while freshman Will Cahill will compete in the 5k as he looks to build upon his performance at the OVC Indoor Championship where he finished second in the 3k.
