
SKYHAWK WOMEN’S HOOPS CONTINUES FINAL HOMESTAND AGAINST MOREHEAD STATE ON WEDNESDAY

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team continues its final homestand of the season with a matchup against Ohio Valley Conference foe Morehead State on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
While the all-time series between UT Martin and Morehead State is tied at 28-28, the Skyhawks hold a five-game winning streak against the Eagles. In the team's previous matchup back on Jan. 24 in Morehead, the Skyhawks picked up a 64-50 road victory.
The Skyhawks (10-15, 7-7 OVC) a riding a hot streak after winning five of their last six outings to continue the team's climb up the league standings. UT Martin picked up a 60-57 victory against Austin Peay on Monday night to earn a season sweep of the series in a game which featured nine ties and eight lead changes. Upperclassmen Paige Pipkin (15 points) and Holly Forbes (13 points, nine rebounds) led the Skyhawks offensively.
After a stretch of strong performances last week, Skyhawk guard Shae Littleford was named OVC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season by averaging 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals in 38.3 minutes per game. Littleford scored in double figures in all three games against Belmont, SIUE and Eastern Illinois.
UT Martin head coach Kevin McMillan earned his 250th career victory in the win over Austin Peay. With the win, McMillan became just the sixth head coach in OVC history to reach 250 wins joining Larry Joe Inman (Middle Tennessee, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee State), Dave Loos (Austin Peay), Bill Worrell (Tennessee Tech), Cal Luther (Murray State and UT Martin) and E.A. Diddle (Western Kentucky).
Morehead State (1-23, 0-14 OVC) is still searching for its first Division I victory this season while looking to snap a 21-game losing streak dating back to Nov. 24. The Eagles feature three-time OVC Newcomer of the Week and Duke transfer Jada Claude who leads the team with 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game – both ranking in the top-10 of the league's statistical leaders. Another Division I transfer Terri Smith (Southeast Missouri) also averages double figures with 10.0 points per game while pacing the team in both assists (43) and steals (32).
