University of Tennessee at Martin graduate tight end Rodney Williams II sat down with members of the media as part of a virtual Ohio Valley Conference Media Day earlier this week. Entering his sixth season with the Skyhawks, Williams has played in 40 games in his career while tallying 70 receptions for 800 yards and four touchdowns.
Williams posted the best season of his Skyhawk career during the shortened 2020-21 spring campaign when he hauled in season-highs with 30 receptions, 327 yards and four touchdowns. The former wide receiver transitioned to tight end and burst onto the national stage by not only earning All-OVC second team honors last season, but also garnering a pair of All-American honors from STATS Perform and Phil Steele.
The Memphis, Tenn. native posted his best game of his career back in March against Eastern Illinois when he tallied career-highs in receptions (eight), yards (95) and touchdowns (two) in the victory. Williams is one of nine returning starters for the Skyhawks on offense.
