MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin track and field program will look to make some noise this weekend at the Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Championships beginning on May 13-15. After posting several record-setting performances and personal-bests throughout the season, UT Martin will look to leave its mark against league competition in search for event titles throughout the three-day competition. Below you will find key events and competitors to watch heading into the championship.
Highlighting Thursday's competition list are key event prelims along with two finals. The Skyhawks will look for their first podium finish of the championship in the men's long jump as freshman Darius Holland has performed nicely in his debut season and posted the third-best mark this season in the OVC with a school-record distance of 7.39m at the Margaret Simmons Invite. Later in the evening, Ryan Ford will compete for the 10k crown where he has posted the second-best time amongst OVC competitors – including setting a school record with a time of 29:19.55 at the Drake Relays.
Outside of the select event finals there will be six prelims on Thursday evening featuring the women's 400m hurdles, men's 400m hurdles, women's 1500m, men's 1500m, women's 200m and men's 200m.
