
SKYHAWK BEACH VOLLEYBALL ADDS ANOTHER VICTORY ON FINAL DAY OF TOURNAMENT HOSTED BY EASTERN KENTUCKY

RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball team soared to its third sweep in a row this morning against Jacksonville State before concluding the Eastern Kentucky tournament with a 4-1 setback to Morehead State.
The Skyhawk duo of Haeleigh Paulino and Logan Wallick won both decisions today, finishing up the regular season with an unblemished 12-0 record. They won at No. 3 against Jacksonville State to improve to 10-0 in that slot while picking up a victory at No. 4 against Morehead State, extending their record to 2-0 in that position in 2021.
Addison Conley and Jessica Reynolds began the Jacksonville State match on the right foot for UT Martin, collecting a 21-18, 21-14 win at No. 4. Baillie Kearns and Kambree Lucas battled back from an early deficit to post a 22-24, 21-18, 15-10 victory in the No. 5 position.
Paulino and Wallick accounted for the clincher, defeating the Gamecock opposition by a 27-25, 21-14 margin. Lucy Kaufman/Hannah Phillips won their No. 1 matchup (15-21, 21-17, 15-0) before Kayla Carrell and Karen Scanlon capped off the sweep with a dominant 21-12, 21-12 triumph at No. 2.
In the Morehead State match, the Skyhawks got on the scoreboard first as Paulino and Wallick secured a 21-17, 21-13 victory. UT Martin nearly came away with another win at No. 5 but Kearns/Lucas fell 12-21, 21-18, 15-11.
At No. 1, Kaufman/Phillips were defeated 21-14, 21-13 while Conley/Reynolds (21-16, 21-17) and Carrell/Scanlon (21-17, 21-19) battled but ultimately fell at No. 3 and No. 2, respectively.
UT Martin will enter the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Championships as the No. 3 seed as the full bracket will be revealed later this evening. The entire tournament will take place at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex on the UT Martin campus on April 29-May 1.
