PAULINO AND WALLICK NAB OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE BEACH VOLLEYBALL PAIR OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the first time in University of Tennessee at Martin history, the Skyhawks boast the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week as Haeleigh Paulino and Logan Wallick captured the award today.
Today marks the first OVC Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week awards of the season and is just the second time in conference history that the league has recognized this honor (joining March 3, 2020).
The tandem of Paulino and Wallick helped UT Martin get off to a 4-2 start to the 2021 season as the Skyhawks swept Austin Peay (3-2, 3-2) and added wins against Jacksonville State (3-2) and Eastern Kentucky (4-1) last week.
Paulino, a sophomore from Peoria, Ariz., joined forces with Wallick, a redshirt junior from Waddell, Ariz., to post a perfect 6-0 record last week. They went 5-0 out of the No. 3 position and also collected a victory in the No. 4 slot.
The twosome began their week with a 21-10, 21-15 triumph over Tegan Seyring/Morgan Rutledge from Austin Peay. Later that day, they posted a 21-16, 21-8 victory over Austin Peay's Rutledge/Karli Graham.
At the weekend tournament hosted by Jacksonville State, Paulino and Wallick came away with a 21-17, 21-15 win over Morehead State's Anya Reinhard/Margaret Musselman and a 22-20, 14-21, 15-13 victory against Jacksonville State's Lena Kindermann/Erin Carmichael on Saturday. The following day, they capped off their undefeated week with a 21-13, 18-21, 15-10 win over Eastern Kentucky's Molly Michalak/Raegan Alexander and a 21-19, 21-17 triumph against Chattanooga's Victoria Cerino/Paige Gallentine.
Paulino and Wallick are back in action tomorrow as UT Martin hosts Austin Peay for a double dual at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Skyhawk Beach Volleyball Complex.
