SKYHAWK EQUESTRIAN TO HOLD SENIOR DAY ON FRIDAY AGAINST DELAWARE STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – Nine remarkable University of Tennessee at Martin seniors will be honored this Friday, March 12 as the Skyhawks play host to Delaware State. UT Martin's Senior Day ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. while the competition will start at 10 a.m.
Tess Baumann, Lucy Eier, Abbie Hopkins, Hannah McDonald, Noel Meadows, Bailey Newlin, Quinn Reed, Grace Rogers and Devon Woods will all be taking part in their final regular season competition at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion. Amongst several impressive accomplishments, those nine Skyhawks have combined for four All-American awards, 149 individual victories, 34 MOP's and 14 mentions on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Hailing from Ellensburg, Wash., Baumann has been a standout in both Western discipline events – garnering 10 wins and four MOP's in reining to go along with nine wins and five MOP's in horsemanship. She has tallied six total conference Rider of the Week accolades and was named a conference Rider of the Month twice. Her career-highs consist of 72.5 points in reining (against South Dakota State on Oct. 10, 2019) and 76.5 points in horsemanship (twice, most notably against No. 6 Georgia on Jan. 24, 2019). She has found herself on both the NCEA All-Academic and OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll lists twice.
Eier is the owner of 13 career victories in horsemanship, including a co-team-high three wins during the 2020-21 campaign. She tallied MOP honors against South Dakota State on Feb. 8, 2019 – helping her win conference Rider of the Week accolades three days later. The New Carlisle, Ohio native registered a career-best score of 75.5 points at Delaware State on March 6, 2021. She is a three-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and has captured NCEA All-Academic awards twice.
Just the second Skyhawk to ever earn NCEA All-American status in two different events is Hopkins, who is responsible for 34 career wins (20 in flat, 14 in fences) and 11 MOP's (six in flat, five in fences) in the Hunt Seat discipline. A three-time all-conference honoree, the Seekonk, Mass. native was named a conference Fences Freshman of the Year and Flat Rider of the Year while accumulating four conference Rider of the Week honors and two conference Rider of the Month mentions. Her career-high flat score of 94 points came against South Dakota State on Jan. 30, 2021 while her career-best 88 points in fences occurred on Feb. 21, 2020 against SUNY New Paltz. She has nabbed one NCEA All-Academic and OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll award in her career.
McDonald accounts for 21 career victories in reining, dialing up three MOP's as a Skyhawk. The Ridgefield, Wash. native captured all-conference accolades as a sophomore and has been named a NCEA Rider of the Month (February 2020), conference Rider of the Month (February 2021) and conference Rider of the Week (Feb. 11, 2019) in her career. Her career-high 76-point effort came against Minnesota-Crookston on Feb. 12, 2021. She has boasted OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades three times and been a NCEA All-Academic honoree on two different occasions.
A Staunton, Va. native, Meadows became the first-ever UT Martin two-time All-American in reining when she accomplished that feat as a freshman and sophomore. A two-time all-conference honoree, she was a conference Rider of the Year (2018-19) and conference Freshman of the Year (2017-18), producing 19 wins and four MOP's along the way. Her awards include three conference Rider of the Month accolades, two conference Rider of the Week mentions and a national Rider of the Month honor. Her career-best score of 75.5 points came on March 6, 2021 against Delaware State while she has been on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll list once.
Newlin has been a mainstay in the Skyhawks' horsemanship lineup, posting 13 career victories while competing exclusively in that event. That includes a co-team-high three wins and her first career MOP during the 2020-21 season, claiming top honors against Minnesota-Crookston on Feb. 12. That performance led to a Eastern College Athletic Conference Rider of the Week accolade just five days later. The Alamo, Calif. native collected a career-best 77 points at Delaware State on March 6, 2021.
Hailing from Batavia, Ohio, Reed has been a frequent contributor in both Hunt Seat events during her UT Martin career. She owns seven career victories in flat and three more triumphs in fences, tying for the team lead in both categories during the 2020-21 campaign. Her career-high score of 87 points in flat came against No. 4 SMU on Nov. 10, 2017 while her career-best 82 points in fences occurred on Jan. 30, 2021 at No. 5 SMU. She additionally claimed OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades last season.
Rogers has taken part in fences throughout the entirety of her Skyhawk career, topping the squad with four wins and a 76.0 scoring average in that event during her junior campaign. She has five career victories and one MOP, accomplishing that feat against Delaware State on Feb. 29, 2020. Her career-high score also came last season when the White Lake, Mich. native delivered 84 points against UC Davis on Feb. 8.
An Escondido, Calif. native, Woods has been an all-conference performer and became the first rider in school history to nab conference Freshman of the Year status in horsemanship. She is responsible for 15 career victories and four MOP's, winning one conference Rider of the Month and two Rider of the Week honors during her storied career. Her career-high score of 79.5 points came against Delaware State on March 6, 2021. In the classroom, she has been a three-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and a two-time NCEA All-Academic honoree.
