SPRAGUE PACES UT MARTIN RIFLE ON DAY ONE OF 2021 OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Junior Rachel Sprague was responsible for a team-high score of 574 points as the University of Tennessee at Martin completed the first day of the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Rifle Championships, hosted by Morehead State University.
A native of Falls Creek, Pa., Sprague compiled relays of 93-96-96-100-93-96 to put her in eighth place in the smallbore standings.
Following Sprague was senior Jacob Osborne, who posted a 570 (93-94-98-98-94-93). Jennifer Plocinik wasn't too far behind as the redshirt senior tallied scores of 96-94-97-97-90-94 on her way to a 568. Completing the team smallbore scoring for the Skyhawks was redshirt senior Amanda Mayo (94-91-95-95-86-84; 545) and sophomore Nick Fares (98-90-98-91-83-82; 542).
As a team, UT Martin posted a combined score of 2,257 points. That tally ranks fourth in the field behind Day 1 leader Murray State (2,316), Morehead State (2,304) and Jacksonville State (2,290).
The second and final day of the 2021 OVC Championships occurs on Sunday, Feb. 7. Air rifle relays will begin at 7:45 a.m. CST and will run again at 10:15 a.m. CST and 12:45 p.m. CST. The Skyhawks will trot out a lineup that includes Plocinik, Sprague, Fares, Osborne and Abigail Donald.
