The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team will open the final week of the regular season with a road swing through the Land of Lincoln, beginning with an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at SIUE on Thursday, Feb. 25. Tipoff from the Vadalabene Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (16-4, 15-2 OVC) enter the contest with their magic number sitting at one game to claim the program's seventh OVC regular season title and back-to-back crown. Over the final week of the season, any win by the Skyhawks or loss by Belmont will clinch the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's OVC Basketball Championship.
UT Martin currently leads the OVC in several statistical categories during league play including scoring offense (71.1), scoring defense (56.6), scoring margin (+14.5), field goal percentage (46.2), field goal percentage defense (34.9), three-point field goal percentage (38.2), assists (17.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
Skyhawk redshirt-sophomore guard Seygan Robins earned her second OVC Newcomer of the Week honor this season on Tuesday after a strong week against Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. Robins average 11.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 63.6 percent from beyond the arc. Her best game came against EKU when she equaled her career-high with 18 points while knocking down 6-of-8 three-point field goal attempts.
Tracking career milestones, UT Martin senior forward Maddie Waldrop enters Thursday's contest looking to become the 17th member of the program's 1,000-point club. Waldrop has scored 987 career points and needs just 13 points to join fellow teammate Chelsey Perry on the prestigious list.
SIUE (6-17, 3-15 OVC) is riding a six-game losing streak while dropping nine of its last 10 games. The Cougars feature three leading scorers including Mikayla Kinnard (9.0 ppg, 2.7 apg), Ajulu Thatha (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) and Allie Troeckler (8.5 ppg, 5.6 rpg).
Thursday's contest marks the 29th meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 1986. UT Martin holds a 20-8 advantage in the series while riding a seven-game winning streak since 2018 – including a 79-45 victory back on Jan. 30.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ while Chris Brinkley will be on the call locally on WCMT Radio 1410 AM/100.5 FM. Those links - in addition to a link for live stats - can be found at the top of the webpage.
