
CAMERON HOLDEN TABBED AS OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Cameron Holden, a 6-5, 200-pound forward on the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team, has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week.
Holden is the 26th player in school history to earn OVC Newcomer of the Week accolades. In three games last week, the Forsyth, Ga. native nearly averaged a double-double (12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds per game) while shooting an even 50 percent (12-of-24) from the floor. He also added 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while converting 75 percent of his free throw attempts (12-for-16).
On Saturday at Murray State, Holden piled up team-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds in 28 minutes of play – which marked his fifth double-double of the 2020-21 campaign. He was 7-of-13 from the floor and added two steals plus a blocked shot.
Against Austin Peay on Thursday, Holden was responsible for team-highs of 14 points and nine rebounds in just 17 minutes of playing time. He made three of his four field goal tries and went 8-of-11 from the charity stripe while tallying a block and a steal.
In the first game of the week against Austin Peay, Holden equaled a career-high with seven assists – including the pass on Ajani Kennedy's go-ahead game-winning three-pointer just before time expired. He finished with four points, five rebounds and a steal over 27 minutes.
Holden currently ranks in the top-10 in the OVC in four different statistical categories: offensive rebounding (4.0 per game, second); total rebounding (7.8 per game, fourth); steals (1.6 per game, ninth) and scoring (14.4 points per game, 10th). His 14.6 points per game scoring average against league opposition ranks eighth in the OVC.
The Skyhawks have their final two home games of the season this week, starting with a Thursday, Feb. 18 matchup against Eastern Kentucky and following with a Saturday, Feb. 20 tilt against Morehead State.
