
UT MARTIN FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF BUTCHER AND FRAZIER TO COACHING STAFF

MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin head coach Jason Simpson has announced two new members to the Skyhawk coaching staff with the addition of Brandon Butcher (linebackers) and George Frazier (defensive line).
Brandon Butcher – Linebackers Coach – Coastal Carolina (2014)
Butcher enters his first season as an assistant coach at UT Martin, serving as the team's linebackers coach. Before joining the Skyhawks he served as an assistant coach at Southern Miss working with the nickels following a stint as a defensive analyst and defensive graduate assistant with the Golden Eagles from 2019-20. Prior to his time in Hattiesburg, he spent three years at his alma mater Coastal Carolina where he served as a defensive graduate assistant and defensive analyst where he worked with safeties and linebackers from 2016-19.
His first collegiate job came as a defensive graduate assistant and student assistant at East Carolina from 2014-16 where he coordinated the offensive scout team and worked with defensive linemen and outside linebackers. Prior to his work in the college ranks, he spent one year as defensive coordinator with the Palmetto Havoc – a semi-professional football team in Myrtle Beach, SC from 2013-14.
Butcher graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management from Coastal Carolina in 2014 while earning master's degrees in exercise science and sports science from East Carolina (2016) and education from Coastal Carolina (2018).
George Frazier – Defensive Line Coach – Colorado (2016)
Frazier enters his first season as an assistant coach at UT Martin, serving as the team's defensive line coach. Before joining the Skyhawks he spent one season as a graduate assistant with at Memphis during the 2020 season, serving as assistant defensive line coach under Kyle Pope.
Prior to his time at Memphis, Frazier spent the 2019 season as a defensive graduate assistant at Ole Miss. Before joining the college ranks he served as the defensive line coach at Monrovia High School for the 2018 season.
Frazier was a three-time captain at the University of Colorado – including acting captain during the Pac-12 Football Championship and the Valero Alamo Bowl in 2016. He was a true two-way player and the program's first since the platoon era ended in 1964 by playing 506 total plays with 266 on offense, 147 on defense and 93 on special teams as a senior. He appeared in 50 games for his career while scoring five touchdowns and tallying 26 total tackles.
During his tenure with the Buffs he garnered numerous accolades including Daniel Graham Award for Most Improved Big Skill Player, Eddie Crowder Award for Outstanding Team Leadership, Dick Anderson Award for Outstanding Toughness and Jim Hansen Award for Outstanding Academics.
Frazier graduated with a bachelor's degree in ethnic studies from Colorado in 2016.
