MARTIN, Tenn. – The preseason preparations for the 2021-22 season for the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team got underway this morning with the start of official practice in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
The back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference regular season champions will have 42 days to prepare before opening the season in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament in Manhattan, Kansas on Nov. 12.
UT Martin will work to calibrate a revamped roster which features three key contributors in Kyannah Grant, Paige Pipkin and Seygan Robins along with four other returners from a team which went 22-6 and 17-2 in the OVC last season. The team also welcomes seven newcomers into the mix – including graduate transfer Holly Forbes from Robert Morris.
This season marks the 13th season for head coach Kevin McMillan. During that span, the Skyhawks have won 240 games, six league titles and four tournament crowns while earning nine postseason berths.

"We have a challenge in front of us," McMillan said. "We are going to be extremely inexperienced at key positions when you lose first team all-conference and WNBA players. We are just looking for kids that we can depend on every day to bring effort, energy, execution and leadership. We have three really experienced kids in Paige, Kyannah and Seygan. That might be the backbone of our team and hopefully they will emerge as the leadership group of our team."
The Skyhawks will open the season on Nov. 12 with a matchup against Kansas State. For information on season tickets, call the Skyhawk Ticket Office at 731-881-7207.
