
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST EASTERN ILLINOIS ON THURSDAY NIGHT

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team continues a six-game homestand with a matchup against Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois on Thursday, Jan. 28. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (8-3, 7-1 OVC) are in the midst of a grueling stretch which features six games in 11 days. UT Martin picked up a 66-63 win over Belmont on Tuesday evening to remain in first place in the league standings in its most recent outing while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor and dishing out 20 assists on the night.
UT Martin recently extended their home winning streak against OVC opponents to 15 consecutive games dating back to the 2018-19 season while improving to 85-11 against visiting league foes since 2010. Overall, the Skyhawks are riding their 10th six-game winning streak since 2010 while posting an average margin of victory of 18.3 points per game during the streak.
The Skyhawks are led offensively by senior forward Chelsey Perry who ranks first nationally with 28.0 points per game and 10th with 308 total points. Perry has scored 20 points or more in all 11 games this season, including 24 points in the win against Belmont on Tuesday night. Fellow senior Maddie Waldrop recorded her 12th career double-double on Tuesday with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Waldrop has stepped up her play at home, averaging 14.6 points and 7.3 rebounds in three games.
Eastern Illinois (7-8, 5-5 OVC) enters Thursday's contest having won four of its last five contests. The Panthers are led by Abby Wahl who leads the team and ranks fifth in the OVC in both points (16.3 ppg) and rebounds (8.3 rpg) while boasting two Preseason All-OVC honorees in Karle Pace (13.9 ppg) and Lariah Washington (13.7 ppg).
Thursday's contest marks the 57th meeting between the two programs in a series which dates back to 1975. UT Martin holds a 36-20 advantage in the series while winning 15 of the last 18 meetings – including 11 consecutive home matchups.
