MARTIN, Tenn. – After nine consecutive matches on the road or at neutral locations, the University of Tennessee at Martin rifle squad returns to the Skyhawk Rifle Range for two matches this weekend. UT Martin will host UAB on Saturday, Jan. 23 before clashing against Ohio Valley Conference rival Jacksonville State on Sunday, Jan. 24.
The upcoming pair of matches marks the first time that the Skyhawks have shot at their home range since the 2020-21 season opener against Murray State on Oct. 3. The matchups against UAB and Jacksonville State also conclude the regular season for UT Martin, who start the postseason by traveling to Morehead State for the OVC Tournament on Feb. 6-7 and take on Memphis in an NCAA Qualifier in Murray, Ky. on Feb. 21.
In their first two matches of the spring semester, the Skyhawks took on NC State and Ohio State in back-to-back days last weekend. Jennifer Plocinik was responsible for team-high scores in both disciplines against Ohio State (582 air rifle, 566 smallbore) while piling up a team-best 583 points in air rifle against NC State. Jacob Osborne managed a team-high score of 562 in smallbore against NC State, leading the squad in that category for the first time this season.
