UT MARTIN ATHLETICS GENERATES 21 OVC MEDAL OF HONOR STUDENT-ATHLETES DURING 2019-20 SEASON

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference unveiled its 2019-20 Medal of Honor recipients today and the University of Tennessee at Martin accounted for 21 student-athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average.
The Skyhawks' 21 OVC Medal of Honor representatives are the second-most in school history, barely trailing the 22 honorees during the 2013-14 season. Overall, UT Martin has compiled 307 OVC Medal of Honor student-athletes since joining the league in 1992.
Individually, Mizuki Sakurai (women's tennis) earned an OVC Medal of Honor for the third time in her career. Lenny Baumann (men's cross country/men's track and field), Daniel Smith (men's cross country/men's track and field), Nick Wolf (men's golf) and Amelia Campbell (women's tennis) picked up their second career OVC Medal of Honor award.
The Skyhawk men's track and field, men's golf and women's tennis programs each chalked up the most OVC Medal of Honor winners in their respective sports. UT Martin was responsible for three of the OVC's 12 Medal of Honor recipients in men's track and field, three of the OVC's 12 Medal of Honor winners in men's golf and four of the OVC's 17 Medal of Honor recipients in women's tennis.
Overall, a record 286 OVC student-athletes earned a Medal of Honor in 2019-20 for their perfect 4.0 GPA's, shattering the previous mark of 268 set last year. The OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll (at least a 3.25 GPA) will be released on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
