UT MARTIN ATHLETICS PLACES 219 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON INAUGURAL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S HONOR ROLL

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin athletic department has spotlighted 219 of its student-athletes on the first-ever Athletic Director's Honor Roll, effective for the Fall 2019 semester.
To earn a spot on the list, a student-athlete must have built up at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average for the previous semester. As part of the 219 Skyhawks who accomplished that feat in the fall, a total of 40 student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPA's.
UT Martin Athletics compiled a 3.04 GPA as a whole for the Fall 2019 academic term. Ten of the Skyhawks' 13 sport programs tallied at least a 3.0 GPA, led by the golf team's 3.67 GPA. The tennis program followed closely behind with an impressive 3.65 GPA.
The UT Martin cross country/track and field programs boasted the most Athletic Director's Honor Roll recipients (35) and the most student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA (seven). Overall, 11 of the Skyhawks' 13 sports generated at least one student-athlete with an unblemished 4.0 GPA.
"We started this award to recognize our top academic performers for each semester," UT Martin athletic director Kurt McGuffin said. "We are very proud of our departmental 3.04 GPA and of our 219 student-athletes who reached the 3.0 GPA threshold in the fall. The time management of a student-athlete is so important and we look forward to carrying over our academic success into the spring."
