
SKYHAWK RIFLE ACCOUNTS FOR CONSISTENT SCORING OVER THE WEEKEND AT MOREHEAD STATE

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team spent the weekend at Morehead State, falling in a pair of competitive matches as the defending Ohio Valley Conference champions claimed a 4,627-4,552 win on Saturday before a 4,618-4,557 decision on Sunday.
Saturday's matchup included a 2,243 score in smallbore and a 2,309 tally in air rifle for the Skyhawks. UT Martin followed that with 2,247 points in smallbore and a 2,310 score in air rifle during Sunday's competition.
The Skyhawks' smallbore scoring lineup on Saturday consisted of Rachel Sprague (570), Jennifer Plocinik (560), Jacob Osborne (559), Kalen Royal (554) and Nick Fares (554). Rachel Mills and Celia Gelpey also competed in a non-scoring capacity for UT Martin, dialing up tallies of 538 and 516, respectively.
In air rifle on Saturday, Plocinik and Osborne shared the team lead with scores of 585 apiece – shattering a new career-high for Osborne in the process. Sprague (577), Fares (562) and Abigail Donald (557) rounded out the team scoring while Royal's season-best 554, Mills' 539 and Gelpey's 537 were each recorded on an individual basis.
Sprague's 1,147 aggregate was the best of any UT Martin representative on Saturday, followed closely behind by Plocinik (1,145) and Osborne (1,144).
On Sunday, the Skyhawk smallbore lineup was topped by Plocinik – who came away with a score of 571. Osborne followed with a 563 with Sprague (562) trailing closely behind. Completing the team scoring was Fares (551) and Royal (548) while Gelpey's 531 and Mills' 524 were charted individually.
Plocinik led UT Martin for the fifth consecutive match in air rifle scoring on Sunday, generating a 586. Osborne (579), Sprague (577), Fares (568) and Donald (557) made up the remainder of the Skyhawk team total as Royal (co-season-high 554), Mills (552) and Gelpey (532) also represented UT Martin.
The Skyhawks' best aggregate score on Sunday belonged to Plocinik (1,157) as Osborne's 1,142 and Sprague's 1,139 also ranked amongst the top-10 for both sides.
UT Martin goes back on the road next Saturday, Nov. 14 for its fall finale as the Skyhawks will collide against OVC foe Jacksonville State.
