
UT MARTIN BASEBALL WELCOMES IN THREE SIGNEES FOR 2022 SEASON

MARTIN, Tenn. – Fourth-year University of Tennessee at Martin head baseball coach Ryan Jenkins has added three players for the spring of 2022, as Ellis Yohn, Ben Severance and Cory Francis each signed National Letters of Intent to join the rising Skyhawk program.
A trio of freshmen make up the 2022 newcomer class, including a two-way player, a position player and a left-handed pitcher. Two of the three incoming players will come to UT Martin as in-state signees while the Skyhawks also inked one player from Alabama.
Ellis Yohn, C/RHP, 5-10, 205, R/R, Fr., Smiths Station, Ala. (Smiths Station HS)
Approaching his senior season under head coach Mike Ferry at Smiths Station High School…Hit five home runs as a sophomore, earning Opelika-Auburn News All-Area honorable mention accolades after helping the Panthers post a 23-9 record against some of the state's toughest 7A teams during the 2019 campaign…Was one of only three catchers to take part in the PBR Alabama Futures Game in 2019…Displayed a consistent pop time of 1.94 and a catcher velocity of 82 mph, both of which ranked amongst the best in the state…Named a Preseason Underclassman All-American in both 2019 and 2020 by Perfect Game…Earned all-tournament status in 18 different Perfect Game tournaments from 2015-20.
Ben Severance, SS/2B, 5-10, 180, L/R, Fr., Brentwood, Tenn. (Ravenwood HS)
Entering his senior campaign at Ravenwood High School, where he plays under head coach Danny Borne…Started the shortened 2020 season on a tear, batting .727 (8-for-11) with three doubles, a triple and four RBI's through the first three games of his junior campaign…Was spotlighted as one of only eight "Tennessee 2021 Middle Infielders on the Rise" by Prep Baseball Report and was also listed as the No. 2 second base prospect in the state…Hit a walk-off double in a district tournament elimination game as a sophomore…Secured all-tournament accolades at the 2020 Perfect Game 17U National Elite Championship, 2020 WWBA 2021 Grads or 17U National Championship and 2018 WWBA 2021 Grads or 15U National Championship…Older brother Hagan played collegiate baseball at Mississippi State, Dyersburg State and Belmont.
Cory Francis, LHP, 6-3, 200, L/L, Fr., Summertown, Tenn. (Summertown HS)
Going into his senior season at Summertown High School, where he plays for head coach Jason Burleson…Highlighted as a Tennessee Baseball Report Super Freshman/Sophomore Team honoree after going 7-3 with a 3.04 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 2019, helping guide the Eagles to the TSSAA state tournament…Named a "Top Sleeper" pitching prospect by Prep Baseball Report and was also chosen as the 15th best left-handed pitching prospect in the state of Tennessee…Earned an all-tournament nod at the Perfect Game WWBA 2021 Grads or 16U National Championship event in 2019.
These three join a UT Martin program that boasted a pair of Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-Americans and a NCBWA Preseason All-American last season, marking the first time in school history for both accomplishments.
