
UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO CONTINUE ROAD SWING AT SIUE ON SATURDAY

The University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball will continue its four-game road swing with an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at league rival SIUE on Saturday, Jan. 25. Tipoff from First Community Arena in the Vadalabene Center is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (10-8, 6-1 OVC) saw its six-game winning streak come to an abrupt end on Thursday night at Eastern Illinois after watching a 12-point third quarter lead evaporate before ultimately dropping the road contest by a score of 74-70. UT Martin saw its post duo of Chelsey Perry and Maddie Waldrop combine for 51 of the team's 70 points along with 17 of the squad's 28 rebounds in the contest.
UT Martin boasts one of the nation's most prolific scores in Perry who ranks ninth nationally with 22.3 points per game. The reigning national mid-major player of the week tallied her fifth 30-point outing of the season with 35 points and eight rebounds against Eastern Illinois. To date, Perry has scored in double figures in 16 consecutive games while averaging 27.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.3 blocks per game in OVC play. Meanwhile, Waldrop has tossed in 16.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in OVC action to rank fifth in both categories.
SIUE (3-15, 1-6 OVC) enters Saturday's contest looking to snap a five-game losing streak while dropping 10 of its last 11 matchups. The Cougars average 57.8 points and 19.5 turnovers game while shooting just 35.6 percent from the field and 24 percent from beyond the arc. In the team's most recent outing, SIUE fell to Southeast Missouri 66-56 while Kaitlin Lee paced the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds in her first career start. Overall, the Cougars are led offensively by Allie Troeckler with 11.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game despite missing the past three games.
