SKYHAWK GOLF STARTS UP 2019-20 SEASON WITH BUSY OPENING WEEK IN BLUEGRASS STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin opens its 2019-20 campaign next week with 108 holes in the span of seven days in a pair of tournaments held in Kentucky. The Skyhawks officially kick off the season on Monday, Sept. 9 with a two-day stop at the Murray State Invitational before heading to Richmond for the Raising Canes Intercollegiate on Sept. 14-15.
These two events are part of an 11-tournament slate for UT Martin, which includes six fall events. A trio of new tournaments grace the 2019-20 Skyhawk schedule, including a pair of events hosted by North Alabama (Oct. 21-22 and March 23-24) and the inaugural Gulf Coast Collegiate hosted by Nicholls State on March 1-2.
UT Martin's two annual tournaments are also locked in, as the Skyhawk Fall Classic will once again take place at Paris Landing State Park on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The 14th annual Grover Page Classic will additionally be held at the Jackson Country Club on March 9-10.
In addition, UT Martin travels to the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill. (Sept. 23-24), the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in Dickson, Tenn. (Oct. 14-15), the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz. (Feb. 22-24) and the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate in Old Hickory, Tenn. (April 13-14).
For the seventh consecutive season, the Ohio Valley Conference Golf Championship (April 26-29) will be held at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Muscle Shoals, Ala. For the first time this year, after 54 holes of stroke play the event will end with a four-team match play on the final day to determine the OVC champion.
The 2019-20 Skyhawk roster features six returners and three newcomers. Reigning All-OVC performer Ross Redmont (third in the OVC with a 72.0 stroke average last season) and Jack Story (14 career top-20 finishes) make the up the active senior class as Peyton Dix will redshirt due to an injury.
The junior trio of Tate Chumley (72.8 stroke average in 2018-19), Nick Wolf (73.6 career scoring average) and Mason Chandler (two top-20 finishes last season) also return for UT Martin head coach Jerry Carpenter.
Bryson Morrell, Luke Smith and Jacob Uehlein will also look to make an impact this season as the freshman trio join the Skyhawk program after heralded prep careers.
