UT MARTIN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL OPENS PRESEASON PRACTICE

MARTIN, Tenn. – One of the Ohio Valley Conference's premier programs, the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball team, returned to the hardwood of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center to signal the start of official practice.
With the start of the regular season just 37 days away, the Skyhawks hit the practice court in an effort to blend a squad that features a mix of 12 returners and five newcomers to a program that posted its sixth 20-win season under head coach Kevin McMillan.
The Skyhawks feature a roster that includes four returning starters in juniors Zaire Hicks (8.6 ppg), Chelsey Perry (12.0 ppg) and Maddie Waldrop (8.0 ppg) along with sophomore Brittni Moore (8.5 ppg). Perry earned All-OVC second team honors a year ago while Moore claimed a spot on the OVC All-Newcomer squad.
UT Martin also welcomes the return of Emma Davis, Sade' Hudson, Damiah Griffin, Tamiah Stanford, Kyarrah Grant, Kyannah Grant and Demi Burdick while Paige Pipkin will miss the 2019-20 season with a knee injury. Joining the fold with be a mixture of five newcomers in Anna Pierce who sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules from San Francisco along with the addition of the freshman quartet of Macy Rippy, Raegan Johnson, Dasia Young and Hayley Harrison.
The Skyhawks will host an exhibition contest on Wednesday, Oct. 30 against Bethel before officially opening the season against Saint Louis on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
