
JOHN BACHUS III NAMED OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin redshirt-freshman John Bachus III has been recognized for his strong play against Murray State by being named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week.
A native of Pulaski, Tenn., Bachus accounted for 345 yards of total offense while tallying a pair of touchdowns for the Skyhawks in an OVC opening victory over Murray State. He completed 26-of-40 passes for 312 yards and one passing touchdown while also punching in a score on the ground from one yard out. He tallied new career-highs in completions, attempts and yards while leading the team to 500 yards of total offense for the first time since 2017 in the victory.
Bachus currently ranks amongst OVC leaders in total offense (345.0 ypg, first) and passing yards per game (312.0, second).
