
UT MARTIN SOCCER OPENS OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE TITLE DEFENSE WITH PAIR OF HOME MATCHES

MARTIN, Tenn. – The defending Ohio Valley Conference champion University of Tennessee at Martin women's soccer team will open its title defense this weekend by hosting a pair of league opponents at Skyhawk Field with matchups against Eastern Illinois (Friday, Sept. 20; 6 p.m.) and Belmont (Sunday, Sept. 22; 2 p.m.). Both matchups will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+.
The Skyhawks (2-3-3, 0-0 OVC) enter OVC play riding a 10-game unbeaten streak against league foes in the regular season dating back to last season. UT Martin posted a 9-0-1 record last year en route to the program's fourth conference title while boasting the league's Offensive, Defensive and Coach of the Year honorees.
UT Martin is 1-1-1 at home this season while leaning on the play of redshirt-sophomore Jill Hildreth which ranks second in the OVC with 11 points on the season and five goals. Hildreth currently ranks in the top-10 in points, goals, game-winning goals (one) and goals per game (0.71). Meanwhile, junior Alice Adams ranks third in shots (2.5) while joining Nicole Collins and Hendrikje Baurmann at eighth with two assists each.
In goal, the Skyhawks lean on the play of All-OVC junior Erica Myers who has tallied 47 saves and a shutout in eight contests while posting a goals against average of 1.73. Myers ranks in the top-10 in saves (first), shutouts (first), save percentage (third) and goals against average (fourth).
Eastern Illinois (1-4, 0-0 OVC) enters play having just snapped a four-game losing streak to start the season with a 3-1 win over Chicago State on Sunday. The Panthers are led offensively by Nicoletta Anuci with five points – including two goals and an assist – while Lexi Ketterhagen has also tallied a pair of goals. In goal, Sara Teteak allows an average of 3.0 goals per game while tallying 31 saves on the season.
Belmont (1-4-2, 0-0 OVC) has gone 1-1-2 in its last four matchups before a matchup at Southeast Missouri on Friday. The Panthers are led offensively by Julie Garst with three goals on the season which ranks sixth in the OVC, meanwhile, four other Panthers have scored on the season. Goalkeeper Lily Herman has a GAA of 1.92 while tallying 41 saves on the season.
