EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country squads made a splash in its second meet of the season, by not only running on the same course as the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Championship, but dominating the field with both team and individual titles to highlight the John Flamer Invitational.
The Skyhawks returned to action following a two-week hiatus by competing at the same course as the upcoming OVC Championship at the SIUE Cross Country Course. The results proved that the Skyhawks didn't need much time to get familiarized with the new surroundings, with numerous personal-records and title performances against four different OVC programs.
Action started with the women's 5k beginning at 5:30 p.m. Leading the pack and earning an individual title was Alexis Grandys which made quick work of a difficult course with an 18:08.0 time for a new PR. Trailing close behind was freshman Erica Fisher with a time of 18:56.5 to finish fourth overall.
Senior Agok Ayuen ranked as the Skyhawks third finisher with a seventh-place finish at 19:31.1 while junior Lydia Lee also posted a top-10 time of 19:34.5. Rounding out the scoring-five for the UT Martin was freshman Taylor Roy with a time of 19:49.1.

The success continued in the men's 8k following the women's race. Junior Tim Dye paced all competitors with a time 25:54.8 to finish first overall while fellow classmate Lenny Baumann wasn't far behind, finishing second with a time of 25:58.7.
As a whole, the Skyhawks had each of its five scoring members post top-10 finishes. Freshman Victor Kemboi crossed the line fifth with a time of 26:17.5 while John Payne (26:32.6) and Alex Schell (26;37.2) finished back-to-back to round out the scoring group.

UT Martin will look to build upon its success on Saturday, Oct. 5 when competing at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
