
MOTON AND WILLIAMS EARN OVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team picked up a pair of Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors as Wanya Moton was tabbed OVC Defensive Player of the Week while Terry Williams was named OVC Specialist of the Week after standout performances against Northwestern State.
Moton, a redshirt-sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., picked up his first OVC weekly honor after tallying seven tackles and a pair of interceptions on Thursday evening. Moton's interceptions came in big situations, tallying a 12-yard return in the second quarter before returning an interception all the way to the house with a 78-yard return in the fourth quarter to give the Skyhawks a two-score advantage. He currently ranks first in the country in interceptions (two) and interceptions per game (2.0).
Williams, a senior from Southaven, Miss., played a big role in the Skyhawks opening victory over Northwestern State, tallying 199 all-purpose yards, including a touchdown. Williams tallied four punt returns for 98 yards, including a 55-yard punt return in the third quarter to give the Skyhawks an eight-point lead. He also tallied four kickoff returns for 73 yards, including a game-long 28-yard return. He leads the country in punt return touchdowns and punt returns while ranking third in kick returns and eighth in all-purpose yards.
UT Martin will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7 when traveling to Southeastern Conference foe Florida. Kickoff from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
