
SKYHAWK MEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES SIX IMPACT ADDITIONS FOR 2019-20

MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin head men's basketball coach Anthony Stewart announced today that Isaac Aguiar, Ja'Darius Harris, Jalen Riley, Eman Sertovic, Miles Thomas and Steve Wooten will all join the Skyhawks next season.
"You always want to upgrade your talent level whenever possible," said Stewart, who just wrapped up his third season at the helm of the UT Martin men's basketball program. "I believe that this recruiting class exemplifies that mission. We have some very accomplished and skilled players that also fit our Skyhawk culture and will be a valuable asset to the campus and community."
Isaac Aguiar, F, 6-10, 220, Fr., North Arlington, NJ (Covenant College Prep)
Joins the Skyhawks out of Covenant College Prep in Belmar, NJ…Played for head coach Ian Turnbull, where he averaged 28.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks over a 41-game schedule in 2018-19...Was spotlighted as one of eight standouts at the 2019 National Prep School Invitational…Racked up first team honors at the 2019 Scotland Invitational and was named "Player of the Game" in the tournament outing against Mt. Zion Prep…Developed a consistent outside shot, combining to hit 14 three-pointers over a three-game span in January…Tallied a team-best 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds against junior college opponent Monroe College on Feb. 21…Spent the 2017-18 season at Union City High School in New Jersey, averaging 14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.8 blocks, 1.9 steals and 1.3 assists per outing under head coach Drew Morano…Helped guide the Soaring Eagles to a 21-8 record and a Hudson County Tournament semifinals appearance as a senior…Shot 68.3 percent (110-of-161), snared 14 double-doubles and produced 14 games with at least four blocks as a senior at UCHS…Scored a season-best 22 points against Hoboken on Feb. 15 and also enjoyed a big game (18 points, 17 rebounds) against Marist on Jan. 8…Nearly compiled a triple-double (18 points, 12 rebounds, nine blocks) against Dickinson on Jan. 11…Also attended high school at Montclair Immaculate School (2016-17) and North Arlington High School (2014-16).
"Isaac is a tall, skilled inside-out player who played at a well-renowned prep school in New Jersey," Stewart said. "We had to beat out some really big conferences above us to make Isaac a Skyhawk. His best asset coming in is his ability to stretch the floor with his shot."

Won the 2019 Tennessee Class A "Mr. Basketball" award after a remarkable run at Peabody High School…Averaged 22.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game while helping the Golden Tide to a 27-7 record, a district championship and a Class A sectionals appearance during his senior campaign…Playing for head coach Wes Miller, he was the first "Mr. Basketball" Winner from Peabody since 2005 while also claiming Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Boy's Basketball Player of the Year honors…Earned All-USA Tennessee Boys second team all-state, first team all-state accolades and was the unanimous District 14A MVP…Scored over 30 points on seven different occasions, going off for 36 points in the Milan Christmas tournament championship game against Dyer County to bring his three-game tournament total up to 91 points…Scored 1,775 career points, including 1,378 over his final two seasons in a PHS uniform as the Golden Tide posted a 50-16 record in that two-year stretch…Averaged 20 points per game during his junior season, pacing the Golden Tide to their first 20-win campaign since 2005.

"Steve is a combo wing/forward," Stewart said. "He put up great numbers at Mineral Area and his numbers were even better as a freshman at Northeast. He is a jack of all trades – he can shoot it, handle it, post up – he's a statsheet stuffer."
Those six will join a UT Martin program that has won three OVC tournament games since 2016, ranking fourth in the league over that span.

"Steve is a combo wing/forward," Stewart said. "He put up great numbers at Mineral Area and his numbers were even better as a freshman at Northeast. He is a jack of all trades – he can shoot it, handle it, post up – he's a statsheet stuffer."
Those six will join a UT Martin program that has won three OVC tournament games since 2016, ranking fourth in the league over that span.
