UT MARTIN’S TENNIS MATCH AT JACKSONVILLE STATE PUSHED UP TO THURSDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference tennis match between University of Tennessee at Martin and Jacksonville State has been moved to Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Friday, April 12 but thunderstorms are expected to hit the northeast Alabama area throughout the day.
The Skyhawks have won five of the last seven matchups against the Gamecocks and are 10-7 all-time against Jacksonville State. Jemima Potter owns four career victories (two singles, two doubles) against the Gamecocks while Asel Jumamukhambetova and Andrea Plantada are each responsible for two wins apiece against Jacksonville State.
UT Martin enters its final road matchup of the year with a 3-10 overall record and a 1-4 OVC mark. The Skyhawks are currently just a half-game out of the OVC Tournament picture with three regular season matches remaining.
Asel Jumamukhambetova has recently cemented her reputation as one of the OVC's top players. The senior from Atyrau, Kazakhstan is currently on a six-match winning streak at No. 1 singles, including an unblemished 5-0 mark against the best in the OVC. She leads the squad in both singles wins (18) and doubles victories (14).
In conference play, UT Martin has found success in doubles – winning seven of its 11 individual matchups for a .636 winning percentage. The No. 3 tandem of Plantada and Amelia Campbell are a perfect 3-0 at No. 3 to help lead the Skyhawks. In singles play, Campbell is 3-1 at No. 5 against OVC opposition.
Jacksonville State is 10-3 overall with a 3-1 OVC record going into tomorrow's match. Freshman Harriet Hamilton, who was named the seventh-best player in the OVC preseason rankings, was named OVC Player of the Week on Feb. 13. Hamilton, Alba Conejero and Cristina Moll Alles each lead the team with eight singles victories while Malin Buechner accounts for a team-best eight doubles wins.
