SKYHAWKS POST THREE INDIVIDUAL WINS AGAINST AUSTIN PEAY ON FINAL DAY OF 2019 BEACH VOLLEYBALL CAMPAIGN

MARTIN, Tenn. – Six total University of Tennessee at Martin beach volleyball student-athletes tallied victories today but the Skyhawks were defeated 4-1 and 3-2 in a home double dual to Austin Peay.

UT Martin evened the first match at 1-all before the visiting Governors came back to win the final three matchups. Addison Conley and Jessica Reynolds notched their first victory as a team with a 21-16, 14-21, 16-14 triumph at No. 4.

The Skyhawks came close to a victory at No. 5 but Lindsey Geurin and Gintare Mackeviciute barely fell 21-15, 13-21, 15-12. UT Martin's No. 3 squad of Megan Fair and Justine Walker battled but were defeated 21-17, 21-19. Brooke Gyori and Hannah Phillips once again teamed up at No. 1 but fell 21-14, 21-19 while Kenzie Hinshaw and Karen Scanlon were defeated 21-16, 21-13 at No. 2.

The Skyhawks held a 2-1 lead in the backend of the double dual but Austin Peay rallied for the narrow win. Fair and Walker got UT Martin on the scoreboard with their team-best ninth win of the season – a 21-16, 13-21, 15-8 victory at No. 3. The Skyhawks also received a win at No. 5 as Geurin and Mackeviciute evened their season record to 3-3 with a 22-20, 19-21, 15-12 triumph.

However, the Governors were able to escape with the win. UT Martin's No. 4 team of Conley/Reynolds put up a fight but fell 21-18, 21-17 while Hinshaw/Scanlon (21-12, 21-15) and Gyori/Phillips (21-7, 21-15) came up just short at No. 2 and No. 1, respectively.
